Whether it is giving or receiving one of my very favorite gifts are water bottles. I carry one with me everywhere and that ensures I take in enough water everyday. Often people hear to drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water per day, although this is close to the recommended amount it does vary from body size, age, sex, and activity level.
These are the recommended amounts according to Mayo Clinic:
So how much fluid does the average, healthy adult living in a temperate climate need? The Institute of Medicine determined that an adequate intake (AI) for men is roughly 3 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day. The AI for women is 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day.
I find that water is the most refreshing drink for me. I drink lots when I exercise, when I go to bed at night I bring my trusty water bottle along side my bed and I drink some during the night and when I get out of bed I drink a bunch in the morning straight away. My favorite water bottle is an insulated Thermos bottle without a straw. The popular straw ones are nice but difficult to clean, once they get moldy they need to be replaced. Another thing about the straw is that I think wrinkles happen more easily from using a straw so often similar to a smokers lips. A great way to encourage drinking more water for a loved one is to give them a really nice water bottle, they will love it!
