If you are the gift giver, it is very important to include a gift receipt with the item, especially if the item is clothing. If you give someone an article of clothing, like say a coat, and it doesn’t fit properly, they need to be able to have the option to return the coat and get one that fits properly.
If you don’t include a gift receipt – offer to return the item yourself and make sure you return with a new coat that fits!
My husband received a leather jacket from his mother for Christmas one year and it didn’t fit quite right so she returned it to the store for exchange – but she never got him another one!!
As tempting as it may be to give an animal to someone whom you know would love to have a pet, it’s really not a good idea.
Animals are not toys. They require love and attention and a lifetime of proper care, and it is unfair to both the animal and the gift recipient if that responsibility is suddenly imposed on them. If you have already discussed the idea with the prospective recipient at length, and you know that they have the time, willingness, ability, and resources to properly care for an animal and make such a serious commitment, you should consider giving them a gift certificate from the local animal shelter and going with them to adopt their new companion.
It is always best for the potential new pet owner to choose their companion themselves.
No matter what the reason is, birthday, anniversary, holiday, etc., the anticipation of buying a gift can be exciting and even a bit stressful. Here are a few basic guidlines to follow to help ease that anxiety:
- Begin early - Start brainstorming as soon as you can and then once you have the perfect gift idea, go get it! Waiting until the last minute can leave you with little to choose from and more stress than you expected.
- Decide on a Budget Ahead of Time – This will help you determine what to get and will also keep your wallet in check!
- Don’t Put a Price Tag on It – Remember, the best gifts are the ones that come from the heart. It is true, it’s not the gift as much as it is the thought or meaning behind the gift.
